Brazil TAM: Orders 25 Airbus planes

Brazil’s largest air carrier, TAM, is planning to order Airbus aircraft worth just under $3 billion at the Berlin air show on June 15, Tuesday.

The order will include twenty A320 single-aisle planes and five A350 wide-body jets, a source to Reuters said, asking not to be identified because the claim has not yet been announced.

Such an order would be worth around $2.8 billion at list prices.

TAM Airlines was founded by five former air-taxi pilots on January 7, 1961. The company was namedTransportes Aéreos Marília, S.A, (Marília Air Transport) after the pilots’ hometown of Marília, São Paulo. It began operations with four Cessna 180 and a single Cessna 170.
