Spirit add more flights between Chicago and Las Vegas

In November this year, Florida-based Spirit Airlines, who has four round-trip flights a day in and out of Las Vegas, will add a daily flight between McCarran International Airport and Chicago’s O’Hare International.

Starting Nov. 11, Spirit, which flies twin-engine Airbus A319, A320 and A321 jets, will have daily flights leaving Chicago at 10 pm, arriving at McCarran at midnight. The return flights leave Las Vegas at 12:50 am, arriving in Chicago at 6:20 am.

The discount carrier announced that it would compete with industry giants United and American on the route by adding daily late-night flights. United currently operates six flights a day between Chicago and Las Vegas while American operates five flights a day.

Currently, Spirit offers two daily round trips linking Las Vegas with Detroit and with Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the airline’s hub airport.

Spirit Airlines is best known as a discount carrier to Caribbean destinations and Central and South America with some domestic flights to Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Boston, and Las Vegas. It also operates a “$9 Fare Club,” which enables members to purchase deeply discounted tickets, some as low as $9 one way. The annual membership in the club is $40, but it’s free to customers who acquire Spirit’s branded MasterCard.

Founded in 1980, the airline has a fleet of twenty-six A319s, three A320s (with 34 more orders), and two A321s.
